The municipality of Artenara is defined by its eminent nature. The spectacular landscapes represent the essence of the characteristic that impart attraction to the village within the frame of the island of Gran Canaria, turning it into an indubitable reference and a leisure alternative, apart from being an environmental resource as opposed to the highly developed social structure that other locations offer. Thus the Municipal Corporation of Artenara wishes to make these characteristics known to all with the slogan: Artenara, Crowning point of Nature.

Another trait that defines Artenara is the cave-dwelling. This is Gran Canaria´s Troglodyte Village where many of the neighbors live in modern cave-houses, construction that is present in all of the municipality´s farming states. And of course Artenara also offers the visitor and tourist other aspects, given that it has preserved a rich ethnografic tradition, manifested in the farming customs, pottery, diverse craftsmanship and an extensive calendar of festivities, contituring a valuable legacy of heritage in their whole.
